Comparative Evaluation of Seed and Grain Quality Parameters of Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Varieties under SRI and Conventional Methods of Rice Cultivation

چکیده
India is the largest producer of rice (Oryza sativa L.) next to China in the world. Rice cultivation is a huge water demanding enterprise. In recent years, water table has depleted at a very rapid rate throughout the globe, thus, posing alarming threats and limiting the scope for cultivation of high water consuming crops especially rice. Challenges in maintaining the sustainability of rice farming have been increasing with the increased scarcity of water and competition for water resources, declined yield levels with low grain quality and increasing the production costs due to more use of agriinputs (Chapagain and Yamaji, 2010). Therefore, it is very much important to search for water saving technologies without reducing the yields. System of Rice Intensification cultivation (SRI) is visualized as one of the water saving rice cultivation. SRI cultivation method offers to minimize water consumption for rice cultivation and to increase the productivity (Laulanie, 1993). System of rice intensification, developed in Madagascar in the 1980s, is a system approach to increase rice productivity with International Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 6 Number 8 (2017) pp. 3653-3660 Journal homepage: http://www.ijcmas.com

Evaluation of genetic parameters and heritability of traits in rice (Oryza sativa L.) using diallel method
To study the genetic control of grain yield and its components in rice using Hayman graphical method, 56 progenies obtained from diallel mating with eight parents (64 genotypes in total) were evaluated using randomized complete block design with three replications at research field of the Rice Research Institute of Iran in 2013. Agronomic traits, grain yield and its components were measured and...

The experimental factors were; tillage methods (m...
متن کاملInvestigation of the Yield and Quality Traits of Some Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Genotypes
Grain quality in rice is one of the main determinants of marketability and product sales. The aim of this study was to investigate the quality of different rice genotypes in different environments and to identify the genotypes with desirable quality. In this trial, qualitative characteristics of 16 rice genotypes, six introduced lines, 8 parental genotypes and 2 genotypes as control in Amol and...
متن کاملSeed dormancy and seedling vigour as influenced by planting time environment and date of harvest in rice (Oryza sativa L.)
Seed dormancy is a genetically inherited trait whose intensity is modified by the environment during seed development and maturation. In order to study the effect of harvest time on the seed quality and optimum time of sowing to obtain good quality seeds, freshly threshed seeds of ten diverse rice genotypes harvested from six environments were evaluated for seed dormancy and seedling vigour ind...
متن کاملStudy of Genetical Correlation and Diversity of Morphological Traits Induced in Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Mutant Population of Hashemi Cultivar
Mutagenesis has been one of the important sources of genetic diversity and Plant mutants can be important bio-resources for crop breeding and functional genomics studies. Breeding conventional methods for generating of genetic variability are of low efficiency. We showed that treatment of seeds of rice(Hashemi cultivar) with 0.8% EMS for 8 h caused visible phenotypic variations on M2 rice mutan...
